Painting Lesson

Activity: For this painting lesson we painted a cacti and a background to show a biome. We taught about the desert biome and cacti. We painted the rock and mixed primary colors to make a green for a cacti. Then we painted a sunset behind a scene we made with crayons. After we made all the painting we then added texture to the cacti and a face.

Extension Activity: For this project after the students make their cacti and their scene behind it we can have the students make a story out of it. They will have to work on their writing by making a fictional story about their scene and then they can all share it together to the class.

Activity:  This clay lesson we learned how to knead the clay and then used a template to cut out a that background square. After we had to add an element that stuck out of the clay that represented us. We also had to add an element that dug into the clay. I chose a shooting star because I am a bright person and I thought that represented well.  Extension Activity:  When students are making these we can make a Christmas ornament or a mothers and fathers day present instead. We can write a letter to someone and make it into a present during a celebration in our classroom.

Paper Lesson

 Activity: For this paper lesson we learned about Picasso and then we colored a template of a face with one side a side view and the other a front view. We then colored the face with different materials like colored pencil, pastels, and markers. We then cut them down the middle both ways and switched two of the four pieces with our table partners. After we cut the 4 little pieces into geometric and organic shapes and saw how different they can be even with the same template.  Extension Activity: After the students complete this same activity we can write down ways their face and their partners is different. This lesson can be integrated with learning about uniqueness and talking about how everyone is so different from each other.

Drawing Lesson

  Activity:  For this drawing lesson we learned about light and dark. We used black construction paper and white colored pencil to draw a picture from a step by step templates for the animals and background, and the boy as well. Any elements that were in the dark were only in white colored pencil to show darkness. Then to show the light in the flashlight affect by using colored color pencils. We also added texture to the tree and animals.  Extension Activity:  We can shut the lights off in the room and give the students a flashlight to see the comparisons of what they can see in the dark compared to what they can see through their flashlight. Also we can make a story about the picture and then write that as a journal entry.
